Ordinary People is a great example of beginning a story well into the character's problems. But, the audience has to piece Conrad's past together for themselves through oblique references and flashbacks. This is an excellent strategy to keep the audience actively engaged in watching the story unfold.It is of note that the first half of Act II has almost twice the average number of Sequences. This allows the demonstration o multiple points and avoids monotony of people talking and talking in the same location.
