I, Robot Screenplay Sequence-Scene Structure
I, Robot shares key themes found in Michael Crichton's story lines (The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Congo and Westworld) where humans are threatened by our own technology. Excellent use of a character 'flaw' (Detective Spooner's own robotic implants) and setting up the prime suspect who turns out to be a victim. The real perpetrator and villain is hidden in plain sight, but her appearance is still a surprise. Note the dramatic use of Spooner being relieved of duty (although it seems to have not impact on Spooner's ability to continue his investigation). Compare to Enemy of the State, War Games and Eagle Eye.
