Hitchcock had a truly great script to work with: co-written by Joan Harrison, who also wrote three of Hitchcock's other thriller masterpieces (Rebecca, Suspicion, Foreign Correspondent) all within three years of each other). The plot structure has been utilized by contemporary Chase-Mystery spy thrillers, such as Mission Impossible, Minority Report, Three Days of the Condor, The Bourne Identity and Paycheck.
